Das vielfältige Werk des belgischen Künstlers Fabrice Samyn bezieht sich oft auf Meisterwerke der Kunstgeschichte. In seinen Kompositionen, Installationen und Performances erforscht er große metaphysische Fragen und verbindet konzeptionelle Strenge mit spiritueller Sinnlichkeit. Vor dem Hintergrund seiner kunsthistorischen Bezugnahmen wurde Samyn von den Königlichen Museen der Schönen Künste in Brüssel eingeladen, in einen subtilen Dialog mit den Meisterwerken der Alten Meister sowie dem Musée Magritte zu treten. Mit seiner Faszination für das gesprochene Wort und die alltägliche Poesie steht Samyn in einer Tradition mit seinem belgischen Landsmann René Magritte und ebenso gelingt es ihm, Details aus den Gemälden der Alten Meister in eine zeitgenössische Bildsprache zu übersetzen.
FABRICE SAMYN (*1981) ist Maler, Bildhauer, Zeichner, Fotograf und Performer. Mit dieser Ausstellung hat er seine bisher größte Präsentation mit über 70 Arbeiten. Er lebt und arbeitet in Brüssel.
