CASPAR DAVID FRIEDRICH FROM A TO Z
In her handy paperback, art historian Barbara Hess opens up a fascinating cosmos that extends far beyond the boundaries of classical art history. From A, for Atelier, to E, for Owl, to M, for Moon, and Z, for Zeit (Time), she explores key concepts that characterize Caspar David Friedrich's work along the alphabet. In doing so, she not only addresses little-known aspects but also casts familiar motifs and themes in a new, inspiring light. This volume invites readers to think and look beyond the alphabet, enabling a deeper engagement with the timeless legacy of arguably the most famous painter of Romanticism.
