Philine von Sell (*1963 in Hamburg) has been working as an author and director in advertising and film for twenty years. Her independent photography projects are distinguished by their realism and the way they deal with contemporary, socially relevant issues. In her photo series Made in Germany, which she began in 2006, von Sell explores Germany as a business location, examining the industrial heart of the country: modern production facilities. She visited a series of leading German companies, where she looked for motifs in the daily routine of manufacturing processes. Hers are not the customary kinds of photographs of factories, but rather abstract images of alluring beauty that first have to be deciphered.
