Transition 12

Since September 2003, Bialobrzeski has been taking pictures of landscapes for Lost In Transition. These new photographs feature abandoned industrial plants, old harbors, and images of unchecked post-industrial architecture. His large works, shot in more than 25 cities and 12 countries, document a fascinating chapter of urban history. The process of change he has captured follows an international trend: London, New York, Copenhagen, and Hamburg, for instance, have all rediscovered their abandoned industrial harbors as potential sites for residences close to the city.

For our Collector’s Edition, Bialobrzeski has selected an impressive image from India. As in the other detailed, yet still emotional works in the series, this photograph takes the viewer on a journey from the old to the new; from the familiar to the abstract.
