Nam June Paik Award 2002
The North-Rhine Westphalia Foundation for Art and Culture has established an award for international art that will be conferred for the first time in 2002. The award, which thereafter will be presented every two years, consists of a primary award of 25,000 Euros for noted media artists and a secondary award for young talent carrying a stipend of about 15,000 Euros. The jury, composed of renowned museum directors, curators and critics, has already named six media artists of both sexes whose work will be shown in a group exhibition starting at the end of September 2002: The Russian artist Anna Koleichuk, the Hungarian- born Zoltán Szegedy-Maszák, Zoe Belgoff from Scotland/USA, the American artist Paul DeMarinis, the Brazilian artist Eder Santos and Herwig Weiser from Austria/Germany. The winner of the primary award will be picked from this group and made public on September 18. This book with full-color illustrations is a fascinating tour d´horizon through the works of the selected media artists.
