The world becomes a toy landscape in these large-format color photographs by newcomer Miklos Gaál.

Miklos Gaál (*1974) is one of the most successful representatives of the young generation of Finnish photographers whose fresh, untainted view of modern civilization has attracted considerable attention in recent years. It seems as if the artist were always just a step ahead of our perceptions. His photos lure and guide our eyes, irritating our gaze in images composed of alternating areas of sharp and soft focus. They are pictures in which ordinary, everyday situations - in places like airports, playing fields; pedestrian shopping zones - are transformed into poetic model worlds. Featuring some thirty works, most of them never published before, the book offers a compact overview of the most recent phase of Miklos Gaál's oeuvre. Exhibition schedule: Kunsthalle in Emden, July 16-October 16, 2005
