Henri Matisse (1869–1954) is one of the most famous modern artists. As a leading representative of Fauvism, he gained recognition early in his career. Throughout his life, he experimented with various media. Numerous trips to the Mediterranean region, North Africa, Russia, the USA, and Tahiti influenced his work.
