SOM journal 4 is the fourth issue in a continuing series presenting the work of SOM, one of the world’s foremost design firms, in the context of a critical discussion. The process of review by a jury comprised of leading figures from the worlds of art, architecture, and engineering, during which projects are evaluated critically is a daring enterprise unique to SOM and illustrates the firm’s commitment to excellence and innovation. This jury was held at the Alvar Aalto Studio in Helsinki, Finland, on June 27, 2004.
