In July, a lot revolves around the Dutch Baroque painter Frans Hals. Art lovers and history enthusiasts can look forward to a series of exciting events and new releases that shed light on the life and work of this extraordinary artist.
Major Exhibition at the Berlin Gemäldegalerie
From July 12, the Berlin Gemäldegalerie will open its doors for a comprehensive exhibition in honor of Frans Hals. This extensive presentation offers a deep insight into the artist's work, who is primarily known for his lively portraits. Visitors will have the opportunity to see an impressive collection of paintings that impressively demonstrate Hals’ masterful use of light and color.
New Exhibition Catalogue: Digital first!
Matching the exhibition, our publishing house is releasing a comprehensive catalogue. This not only offers detailed background information on the exhibited works but also substantial contributions from art historians and experts. In addition to the German edition, the volume is also available in English. It is particularly noteworthy that this catalogue is first available as an eBook before the print version is released. Digital access offers many advantages: art lovers worldwide can access the latest research findings without delay and prepare intensively for their exhibition visit.
Free Screening of a Documentary Film about Frans Hals
Another highlight of the month is the free screening of the documentary film Frans Hals: Painter of Laughter. This will take place on Monday, July 8, 2024, directly in front of the Berlin Gemäldegalerie at the open-air cinema. The film is a great opportunity to learn more about the life and work of this extraordinary painter and to get in the mood for the exhibition.
July thus offers a wealth of opportunities to intensely engage with Frans Hals and experience his art in various ways. Whether through visiting the exhibition, studying the new catalogue, or enjoying the documentary film – this month is entirely dedicated to one of the greatest masters of the Dutch Baroque.
