Award-winning photographers Ulrike Myrzik and Manfred Jarisch offer rare insights into the (architectural) history of the Swiss Re office building in the Munich suburb of Unterföhring.

For almost four years, the photographers Ulrike Myrzik and Manfred Jarisch accompanied the building of the Swiss Re office complex at Unterföhring near Munich-from the first cut of the spade until after its opening. The most impressive element of the new building designed by the renowned Hamburg architects BRT Bothe Richter Teherani, and at the same time the one which works most effectively from afar, is the "floating" hedge, which provides every desk with a green view and lends its name to this photographic book. There are shots which are purely documentary but also ones which are subjective and emotional: photographs of small, seemingly unimportant details; large, structured surfaces; spaces playing with light and shadow, and the actual builders, portrayed lovingly and occasionally with a sense of humor. With this selection of pictures, Ulrike Myrzik and Manfred Jarisch present us with a rare glimpse into the (building) history of the structure, well beyond all classical architectural photography. The accompanying text was written by the journalist Ulf Erdmann Ziegler. The works of the team of photographers have won multiple awards: in 1998, 2000 and 2001 they received awards from the Art Directors Club; in 2001 the European Architecture Photography Award, and in 1996 and 1999 the Reinhart Wolf Award. Exhibition Schedule: Swiss Re Germany AG, Unterföhring near Munich July 2 - September 26, 2003
