Photographs and video stills by Oliver Boberg, one of the most promising artists of his generation

Oliver Boberg, who was born in 1965 in Herten, is one of the most interesting artistic personalities of his generation. Since 1997 he has produced small models which are then photographed in such a way that their model quality is practically nullified. His photographs of underpasses and building shells show emotionally charged non-locations, places so familiar that they could be anywhere-and nowhere. Boberg's videos of 2002/03 feature nocturnal urban and landscape vedutas which seem to be based on film scenarios: a deserted bridge, a country road during a rainstorm, an ominous factory-gloomily romantic backdrops and metaphors for the absence of people and also of reality itself. This book, which is fully illustrated in color, unites for the first time the photographic and video works of this German artist.
