The Austrian architect Hans Peter Wörndl has built an object of architecture on the Mondsee in the Salzkammergut which is exemplary of architecture and art in relation to each other. The starting for the concepts was the possibility of constructing a non-utilitarian but serviceable building in the classical sense which is meant to thematicise the location, the view and, hence, the relationship to the landscape. Conceived as a simple construction of wooden stands, clad with plywood, this hermetic object, as a self-contained unit, can be opened out to the surroundings by tilting, pushing or turning the single plates. Within this metamorphosis, the building vanishes on site and dissolves symbolically into the landscape. The photo essay documents this transformation; the text describes thethe position of the building in terms of architectural and cultural history within the context of landscape-related architecture.
