Jörg M. Colberg was born in Wilhelmshaven, (then West-) Germany, in 1968. After graduating from high school, he studied physics in Bonn, to later graduate with a doctorate from the University of Munich (specializing in supercomputer simulations of the evolution of the Universe). After a brief stint in the software industry, he returned to academia, to work on various aspects of theoretical cosmology. In the meantime, in 2002, he started to work on his blog/website Conscientious, which underwent a series of expansions and mutations, to now be dedicated to long-form writing about contemporary photography. His writing has also appeared in artist monographs and in international photography periodicals, such as FOAM magazine. In 2010, Jörg joined the faculty of the newly formed International Limited-Residency Photography MFA Program at Hartford Art School/University of Hartford, while also teaching at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design (MassArt) and at the Rhode Island College of Design (RISD). In 2012, he became an assistant professor of photography at Hartford Art School/University of Hartford.

It’s the end of the month, and I’m going to hand off the blog again. Thank you for watching these photobook presentations! I had a lot of fun making them, and I hope I was able to get you interested in some books you weren’t familiar with.
