In his Dancing on Tables, Stephan von Huene combines sound, motion, light and interaction in an installation. Although only the legs of the dancers are visible, the figures engage in dialogue with the viewer nonetheless. Von Huene's theme is the pattern of close relationships that link the rhythms of everyday life, the movements of people and our own body language. Barbara Klemm has captured these complex works of art in a fascinating series of photographs. The artist: Stephan von Huene, born 1932 in Los Angeles; studied art and art history in Los Angeles; since 1963: diverse teaching positions in the US; 1971 - 1979: professor at the California Institute of Arts, Los Angeles; 1976/77: DAAD fellowship in Berlin; 1979: guest professor at the Hochschule der Künste, Berlin; 1992: awarded the Media Art Prize by the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie in Karlsruhe; since 1992: professor at the Hochschule für Gestaltung in Karlsruhe.
