Peter Schlör
Deep Black

Peter Schlör (*1964) lives and works in Mannheim.

Numerous solo and groups shows in museums and galleries since 1988. Schlör’s works are included in various public and private collections, such as the UBS Art Collection in Zurich.

For over two decades now, artist Peter Schlör has been exploring the medium of photography. With his unique black-and-white photographs, he has made a name for himself internationally as a conceptual landscape photographer. Characterized by a strong compositional austerity and a marked contrast between light and dark, Schlör’s pictures maintain a notable tension between the dramatic and the calm.

From the start, the house has been a central motif in Schlör’s work, which he has continued to vary up until his most recent works. This is the case in our two-part Collector’s Edition, two prints full of contrast and dramatic lighting, from the series Sinai.

These pictures present something aptly described by the Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung: “Schlör is one of those experimenters who feel a sense of obligation to reality and nature on one hand, but on the other, are always looking for ‘signs’ in it, in order to exaggerate them through photography.”

The Collector's Edition will be shipped upon receipt of payment (including postage and handling) or credit card authorization.
