An artist's book by multitalent Magne Furuholmen, who has conquered the pop music charts and is now on his way to the summit of the international art world.

Most widely known as a member of the Norwegian band a-ha, Magne F, born Magne Furuholmen, 1962, in Oslo, has devoted an increasing amount of his time and effort to visual art in recent years, gaining recognition from a rapidly growing circle of colleagues and curators. The poetic, blue-gray works presented in this book are from a series of prints and monotypes done in nuances of a single color: Payne's Gray. All of the works featured relate in some way to Magne F's first solo album Past Perfect Future Tense (Universal), released in Norway in September 2004, and awaiting international release. This book is a kind of hybrid of personal diary, extended notebook from the CD-making process, and exhibition catalogue, and it contains material found nowhere else. The book's format was chosen specifically to correspond to the shape of a twelve-inch vinyl album. The high-quality reproductions of the prints are supplemented by a selection of personal photos from rehearsals, recording sessions, and the printmaking process itself, rounding out an interesting pictorial narrative to make a uniquely personal book. Exhibition schedule: Henie Onstad Art Center, Oslo, September 16-November 14, 2004 · Paul Stolper Gallery, London, September 21-October 14, 2004 ··Edinburgh Printmakers, Edinburgh, November 6-December 6, 2004
