Heinz Mack not only made art history as one of the founding members of the Düsseldorf-based ZERO group in 1957, he is still active today as a painter and sculptor. The catalogue, which is published on the occasion of his solo exhibition at the Waldfrieden Sculpture Park in Wuppertal, focuses specifically on his sculptural work. In numerous installation shots in the interior and exterior of the impressive park, Mack’s sculptures enter into exciting connections with surrounding architecture and nature. Light is Mack’s central theme. The richness of form and the diversity of materials in his oeuvre are explored in texts about Mack’s series of stone works, stelae made of wood and metal, metal reliefs, and screens. An important tribute to the great German artist on his 90th birthday.

HEINZ MACK (*1931) founded the group ZERO together with Otto Piene in 1957, making Düsseldorf one of the most important art centers of postwar art. He participated twice in the documenta and has had over 400 solo and group exhibitions.
