Nkotakota Wildlife Reserve / Malawi / ** Simon Pitt, parkanager of Nkotakota Wildlife Reserve and a ranger, are tracking a group of elephants that has been released from Liwonde National Park. ** In July and August 2016 a massive elephant-translocation of around 500 animals took place in Malawi. Most of the animals are captured at Liwonde, but smaller numbers are also caught at Majete Wildlife reserve and some smaller parks. All of the animals are brought to Nkhotakota Wildlife Reserve as there are almost no elephants left. The whole operation is managed and supervised by South African non-profit conservation organization “African Parks”. 18.07.2016 © Julius Schrank / De Volkskrant
