The esteemed Daros Collection focuses on European and North American art from the latter half of the twentieth century, and since its emergence in the eighties and nineties, the Collection has gathered about 280 works by thirty outstanding artists. The Daros-Latinamerica Collection was established in 2000 and, comprising approximately 1,000 works by circa one hundred artists, is the largest collection of Latin American art in Europe.
Face to Face is the first publication to bring both Daros Collections together, and attempts to engage these works—created in different media and of various origin—in a dynamic dialogue. This is expected to lead to previously unimagined, exciting harmonies, as well as to art-historically provocative disunity, which promises to shake our Eurocentric way of thinking. In this way, Face to Face not only deepens our knowledge of the individual qualities of the two collections, but also explores the shared characteristics of their cultural backgrounds.
