By challenging our perception of the border between the true nature of a material and the materials of nature, she questions the dichotomy between natural and artificial. In a world in which we are surrounded by surrogates and synthetic fabrics and familiar textures are not what they seem to be, it is increasingly difficult to trust our senses. Breath, clay is the first monograph dedicated to the work of the Latvian artist and uses significant work to show interwoven motifs that run through her entire oeuvre. In this respect, its latest exhibition in Bergamo marks an evolution compared to its apparently floating local ensembles in the area that shows plastic and geometric work on the wall for the first time.

Daiga Grantina (*1985, Saldus, Latvia) studied at the University of Fine Arts in Hamburg and the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna.
