Besides his work as an author, Hermann Hesse (1877–1962) spent many happy hours painting. Almost every day he captured surrounding landscapes or interiors in translucent watercolors. All three of his sons inherited his artistic talent. As the administrator of his estate, Hesse’s son Heiner set about making Hesse known as a painter. Light is also shed upon the correspondence between father and son.
