His major motifs are figures and landscapes, which he translates to canvas in his characteristically elaborate, time-consuming process. The artist’s production process can take months, even years, since he works without any kind of reproduction technology. Employing a kind of intaglio technique, he transforms his source material into various media, such as woodcuts, prints, and paintings. In contrast to the hyperrealist paintings, the prints have an abstract, alien look.
