Eitel began collecting postwar art in the fifties, including the approximately sixty works that are now part of the \u003c?xml:namespace prefix = \"st1\" ns = \"urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags\" \/\u003e\u003cst1:place w:st=\"on\"\u003e\u003cst1:PlaceName w:st=\"on\"\u003eMarburg\u003c\/st1:PlaceName\u003e \u003cst1:PlaceType w:st=\"on\"\u003eMuseum\u003c\/st1:PlaceType\u003e\u003c\/st1:place\u003e. Paintings, works on paper, and sculptures by artists such as Josef Albers, Jean Dubuffet, Lucio Fontana, Yves Klein, Piero Manzoni and the German Zero Group, Giorgio Morandi, Ernst Wilhelm Nay, and Wols span a number of movements—from Abstract Expressionism and Art Informel to monochromatic painting and Zero art.
