His participation in the 1992 documenta IX in Kassel and the Biennale di Venezia in 2007 attests to his presence on the international scene. Ever since he took up the brush, Brandl’s work has concentrated predominantly on the subject of landscape, although the pictures themselves alternate between the painterly abstract and the representational in terms of motif.
