He became famous for his design of the commercial face of the 1972 Olympic Games in Munich and his sport pictographs, and created the logos for large Germany companies such as Braun, Lufthansa, and BMW. As cofounder and later head of the pioneering Ulm School of Design, Aicher left his mark on whole generations of graphic designers. His connection to the circle around the resistance movement The White Rose was formative for his political involvement. He was married to Inge Aicher-Scholl, sister of Hans and Sophie Scholl, core members of the movement who were executed in 1943.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

For this first critical biography, Eva Moser interviewed Aicher’s companions, family members, clients, and friends.
