In works like \u003cI style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal\"\u003eThe Long Count\u003c\/I\u003e or \u003cI style=\"mso-bidi-font-style: normal\"\u003e24 Landscapes,\u003c\/I\u003e he digitally manipulates found images—in this case of celebrities such as Mohammed Ali or Marilyn Monroe—cropping, retouching, duplicating, and layering them. The visual material appears in new dimensions, triggering a stream of thought in the viewer while melding works of art with personal memory. In this way, one can experience the role and functions of images in pop culture in relation to the (re)construction of history on both a social as well as an individual level.
