After studying painting in \u003cst1:City w:st=\"on\"\u003eMunich\u003c\/st1:City\u003e, Klein joined the \u003cst1:State w:st=\"on\"\u003e\u003cst1:place w:st=\"on\"\u003eNew York\u003c\/st1:place\u003e\u003c\/st1:State\u003e artists’ collective Group Material, and together they initially devoted themselves to conceptual projects. After moving to \u003cst1:City w:st=\"on\"\u003e\u003cst1:place w:st=\"on\"\u003eLondon\u003c\/st1:place\u003e\u003c\/st1:City\u003e, however, Klein returned to painting, and until his death at thirty he worked on paintings that combine the experience he gained during his conceptual phase with virtuoso colorism. His most well-known paintings are idyllic landscape scenes.
