He has made an international reputation for himself, not only as an artist but also as a critic, educator, and art theorist. Although in terms of form his art is close to American Conceptual Art of the sixties and seventies, Camnitzer has created a body of work over the past fifty years that stands entirely on its own. Thanks to its sophisticated depth, keen humor, playful and poetic qualities, as well as its ironic, metaphorical ambiguity and its strong social and political commitment, his work is clearly and unmistakably unlike that of his American colleagues. This publication offers profound insight into Camnitzer’s charmingly ironic yet poetically mature oeuvre from 1966 to the present day.

<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Exhibition schedule: Daros Museum, Zurich, March 11–July 4, 2010 | El Museo del Barrio, New York, February 2–May 29, 2011

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0582/8948/8049/files/odoo_9783775726528_aa14a0d6-000f-4611-b0b3-03c5e76b6494.jpg?v=1744112568
