He produced iconic, coolly effective images of life in America ’s wealthy leisure class, as well as of remote natural idylls. In a further step, he reproduced, reflected, and reduced his motifs in his prints, which retained the planes of deep, radiant color that characterize Katz’s paintings. The two-dimensional, artificial reflection of the subject, and the interplay with different levels of reality, constantly bring the viewer back to the picture on the wall and to the process of vision itself. This publication provides insight into the development of the artist’s prints from the early fifties to the present day. (German edition ISBN 978-3-7757-2584-2)

Exhibition schedule: Albertina, Vienna, May 28–August 29, 2010 | Kunsthalle Würth, Schwäbisch Hall, October 5, 2010–April 3, 2011

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0582/8948/8049/files/odoo_9783775725859_b81faeb5-c34a-423b-9910-23cff668f335.jpg?v=1744039176
