As one of the most important artists in <?xml:namespace prefix = "st1" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />Europe today, his work has been presented several times at the documenta and the Venice Biennale. After studying geology and expeditions to Greenland in the fifties and sixties, he turned first to painting, and later to literature and sculpture. In the early seventies, Kirkeby developed his own unique forms of expression, to which he has remained true to this very day despite fashionable trends. His works reflect his almost mythical, romantic interests in humankind’s relationship to nature.<?xml:namespace prefix = "o" ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

This publication is a survey of the universal artist’s entire oeuvre, from his early artistic ventures to the present day, including his lesser-known literary works, which encompass more than seventy books of poetic and critical theoretical texts.

Exhibitions: museum kunst palast, Düsseldorf, September 26, 2009–January 10, 2010 | Tate Modern, June 17–September 6, 2009

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0582/8948/8049/files/odoo_9783775724562_ed476fd0-eded-4365-97ef-ff3367fec1b6.jpg?v=1744124789
