In recent decades, Beate Günther, Guillermo Kuitca, and Richard Allen Morris have continuously sounded the boundaries of painting with completely different artistic strategies. \u003cBR\u003eThe Berlin-based artist Beate Günther (*1957) works with pigments, producing paintings that feature extraordinary, richly nuanced surfaces that elude all too hasty definitions in terms of content. The contribution to the 2007 Venice Biennale by Argentinean painter Guillermo Kuitca (*1961) seems deeply disturbing: in the \u003cEM\u003eDesenlace I–IV\u003c\/EM\u003e series, he deals intensely with the stylistic elements of Cubism and the artist Lucio Fontana.
