A volume with the newest works by Bettina Pousttchi, who is featured in this year's anniversary Biennale in Venice.

Bettina Pousttchi, born in 1971 in Mainz, has attracted attention with her videos and photographs concerned primarily with aspects of identity and social power, with the quest for individual self-definition and its social determinants. She draws from a number of sources, including the sciences, manifestations of popular culture, and architecture and the role it plays in the representation of power structures. This focus takes on a new dimension in her most recent spatial installations, in which narrative sequences emerge from the associative interplay of aesthetic staging, projection, sound, and speculation on the part of the viewer. The first publication devoted to these recent works, this catalog examines them against the background of her previous artistic achievements. A highlight of the presentation is the documentation of her most extensive installation to date, a project realized for the Württembergischer Kunstverein in Stuttgart. Exhibition schedule: Württembergischer Kunstverein, Stuttgart, November 8, 2003 - January 11, 2004
