| Annette Streyl’s works question the meaning and structure of architecture

Having studied sculpture with Franz Erhard Walther at the Hochschule für bildende Künste in Hamburg, Annette Streyl (*1968 in Münster) has created a substantial, frequently exhibited body of work in recent years. Streyl’s works revolve around the experiential, everyday world—the environment made and shaped by people. She is a pathfinder, interpreting and demystifying architecture and its ornamentation. Since the mid-nineties Streyl has been exploring the themes of architecture and space through her works of art. In particular, her installations and sandstone sculptures examine the levels and structures of meaning in architecture. Streyl’s work makes it possible to see and imagine the powerful, emblematic visual effects and language of architecture. Exhibition schedule: LEVY Galerie, Hamburg, January 12–February 17, 2010
