Plants as data repositories, algae as energy sources and microorganisms as empathic interlocutors: the exhibition 1.5 Grad illuminates the complex interaction between humans, nature and technology and shows how the climate crisis affects all areas of life. It extends in the form of individual fragments throughout the museum and onto the grounds of the Federal Garden Show 2023. International artists such as Ernesto Neto, melanie bonajo, Otobong Nkanga and Marianna Simnett draw attention to the ecological, political and social interactions of the climate crisis and illustrate how closely humans and the environment are intertwined. A critical engagement with the past is combined with a stocktaking of the present and impulses for a sustainable, innovative and creative future.
