The Hanover-based traffic planner Bernd F. Künne has been a dedicated collector of contemporary photography since the middle of the nineties. With respect to content, the photographs range from documentary-style concepts such as the internationally known "Becherklasse", to the subjective lines of German photography in the wake of Otto Steinert around 1970 and the group around Michael Schmidt from the beginning of the eighties. The collection, put together over the past seven years with great effort and dedication, also offers a fascinating overview of recent trends in American and European photography. Three essays and an interview with the collector explore the historical development of contemporary photography on both sides of the Atlantic. Extensive work groups by Matthias Hoch, Thomas Ruff, Michael Schmidt and Timm Rautert allow for eye-opening insights into yet undiscovered facets of contemporary artistic photography. The artists: Miriam Bäckström, Boris Becker, Claus Goedicke, Matthias Hoch, Candida Höfer, Valérie Jouve, Timm Rautert, Heinrich Riebesehl´, Thomas Ruff, Jörg Sasse, Beat Streuli, and others Exhibition Schedule: Städtische Galerie Wolfsburg, January 18 - March 30, 2003 · Suermondt-Ludwig-Museum, Aachen, June 6 - September 28, 2003 · Det Konigelige Bibliothek/Det nationale Fotomuseum, Kopenhagen, February 20 – May 1, 2004 · Kunsthalle Nürnberg, May 13 – July 4, 2004
