Anyone in New Zealand this week?
Then join »Someone's Mana« creators Michael Krzanich, Haare Williams and Witi Ihimaera for an evening to celebrate the launch of their international photo book at Tairāwhiti Museum on November 26th at 5pm.
There will be a formal welcome, discussion, readings of the books poetry by its author, signings, drinks and food.
Someone's Mana contemplates the mystical and varied meanings of ‘mana’ in contemporary New Zealand. Of the 70 photographs included, a large majority capture the mystique of the East Coast area.
“It was really important for us have Gisborne and the East Coast as first place to launch ‘Someone’s Mana’” says Michael Krzanich. “It’s where we all came from, and although I’m not there now I feel it’s my spiritual homeland. I’m so proud of my origin and culture, and proud that the images and words tell the world how special and interesting it is”.
