The stunninghttp://www.museum-brandhorst.de, designed by the architectural offices of Sauerbruch Hutton in Berlin, is in the immediate vicinity of the Pinakothek der Moderne in Munich’s Kunstareal museum complex. Over thirty-six thousand glazed ceramic tiles in nearly two dozen different colors create an inimitable, brilliant signal effect, lending the building a distinctive appearance of its own. Inside, the architecture gives way to art, and its well-proportioned spaces are striking. Making use of technological innovations in lighting and ecologically sound climate control, the building has set standards for museum architecture around the globe.Featuring numerous detailed images of this extraordinary building by photographer Florian Holzherr, the publication also includes an essay on architectural history by Andres Lepik and a presentation of the technical finesse of Andreas Burmester. In addition, an introduction to the collection by Achim Zweite examines selected works of art at the Brandhorst Museum.
