Gesicht EGH

Behind the moniker M+M are the Munich-based artists Marc Weis and Martin De Mattia, who became internationally known for their mixed art and film installations. Their physically accessible works of art link fragments from narrative films without any fixed chronological order. In them the duo continues to develop their approaches to so-called Expanded cinema in their own unique way. M+M revolves around a central theme of society: the creation and dissolution of identity as individual, as couple, as collective. Their new, seven-part film cycle 7 Tage (7 days; 2009–2015) alludes to key scenes in well-known feature films. In them we follow the protagonists in each of the two parallel projected narratives through apparently ordinary situations that are marked by the psychological dimension of inter-human relationships. We are very pleased to be able to offer you a signed and numbered edition featuring outstandingly ambitious double motifs from this work, either singly or in a set. While the subject on the left is a classic black-and-white photographic print, the motif on the right is a silkscreen print printed in three color variations, alluding to the French tricolor. If you are interested in a complete set in the colors blue, white, and red, please email us at egh @hatjecantz.de.
