Hatje Cantz recently celebrated the release of Maxime Ballesteros's first photo book. The popular photographer is known for his work with fashion and lifestyle magazines such as Purple, Numéro, Vice, and 032c.
Nearly 500 people attended the artist's book launch and exhibition opening at Johann König on Dessauer Straße. Using strictly analog cameras, the French photographer's monograph presents images from the past ten years: scenes from Berlin nightlife, ecstatic moments, and beautiful people. This also includes, however, the loneliness that arises between such moments—which explains Ballesteros's title for the book, Les Absents: the absent.
