Besides our books, our Collector’s Editions are a traditional focus of our program. In the 1980s Gerd Hatje published a wonderful, delicate etching by Spanish artist Eduardo Chillida. Since then, Hatje Cantz has produced many other limited, and signed editions of other prints, photographic works, and objects. Along with photographs by Hiroshi Sugimoto, Richard Prince, Stan Douglas, Erwin Wurm, and Wolfgang Tillmans — to name just a few — we have produced extraordinary objects, such as a mobile by Tobias Rehberger, and a hand-colored relief print by Stephan Balkenhol, which was sold out shortly after its release.

Some of these works have considerably increased in value on the art market, and some people who started out as spontaneous, enthusiastic buyers have become faithful collectors of our Collector’s Editions. Every year, at the major international art fairs, Art Basel, Art Forum Berlin, and Art Karlsruhe, Hatje Cantz presents its newest Collector’s Editions, all of which are created as part of a book project in close cooperation with the artist.
