- Books Awarded Prizes
A small selection of prize-winning books, including the recipient of The Best-Designed Book in the World Prize
We wish to take this opportunity to introduce our award-winning books. Many of our publications in the fields of art, photography, design, and architecture have been honored with major awards in numerous different competitions—nearly every year since 1956!
In an article on our Senior Publisher Gerd Hatje in the Tagesanzeiger of October 1, 2002, the author wrote that his “publishing program serves recognition as one of the most outstanding accomplishments of the twentieth century by virtue of its continuity, its undogmatic vitality, and its quality.” Publisher Annette Kulenkampff, who has directed and shaped the activities of the publishing house since 1997, has maintained the tradition of publishing art books of the finest quality.
One such publication was recognized as an especially outstanding example of the art of book design: The Hatje-Cantz book Olaf Nicolai—Rewind Forward was honored in 2003 as the “The first prize in the international competition Best-Designed Books from all over the world”.
