Walter Niedermayr was born in Bolzano, Italy, in 1952, where he lives and works today.
1993-2003: solo exhibitions in Cahors, Zurich, Bolzano, Paris, Berlin, Stockholm, London, New York, Chicago, Tokyo, Vienna, and many other cities; numerous group exhibitions worldwide.
Walter Niedermayr's multi-part mountain scenes gained widespread acclaim during the 1990s. In his new book, entitled Civil Operations, he expands the spectrum to include urban images, interiors, and views of unfinished architecture.
The motif selected for the Collector's Edition (book, p. 47) is a wonderful diptych showing the Nigardsbreen Glacier of Norway immersed in diffuse light.
