| On the 200th anniversary of Chile’s independence

Chile stands out for its thriving contemporary art scene, which has yet to be discovered in Europe. Twenty years after the end of Augusto Pinochet’s dictatorship, Chilean artists are confronting their legacy and the fortified excesses of neoliberal economic policies in their daily lives. The project Dislocación supplements the perspective of Chilean by that of European artists with a particular focus on the issues of migration, uprootedness, and homelessness in the aftermath of global economic and political developments. Starting with the situation in Chile, phenomena that can be observed around the world are articulated—such as housing shortages; a lack of integration, language skills, and perspective; or unemployment. Exhibition schedule: Kunstmusem Bern, March 18–June 19, 2011
