The publication Ecomedia presents projects founded on progressive ecological models and conceive utopian horizons in the process.
In recent years, the notion of ecology as a system of communication in which animals, people, and material are equals has gained significance. This system, however, has gotten so out of balance that it is doubtful if it will ever settle down. To whose advantage and disadvantage is this system now being destroyed? What does this mean to those involved? How can the interests of the weaker parties be given weight? What are possible alternatives? These are the types of questions also posed by art. This book considers fundamental ideas concerning ecosystems, sustainability, renewable energy, visions of the future, and the question of what role art and new media might play in this context—ideas which science, technology, and ecological activism are not prepared to deal with.
