| This year’s ars viva prize of the Kulturkreis der deutschen Wirtschaft

Since 1953 the ars viva prize for Fine Arts has distinguished outstanding young artists, whose works are defined by innovative potential and high artistic quality. This year the prize is being awarded to three Berlin-based artists. Aleksandra Domanovic (* 1981 in Novi Sad) addresses the reception and distribution of (visual) information and the influence of cultural and historical phenomena on personal and collective identity in her video works, sculptures, and prints. Yngve Holen (* 1982 in Braunschweig) works with the complex contemporary technologies, combining, for example, objects from the meat industry with clinical furnishings to form sculptures, making processes that we do not see or understand more palpable. James Richards (* 1983 in Cardiff) uses archival material, his own films, and self-composed sounds to create installation-based video collages that go beyond conventional patterns of images and narrative.Exhibitions: Hamburger Kunsthalle, Galerie der Gegenwart 19.10.2014–15.2.2015 | Bonner Kunstverein März/March–Juni/June 2015 | Grazer Kunstverein Sommer/Summer 2015
