Warhol said, “Death can really make you look like a star”. What should, or can, artists do to benefit their own legacy? How do the art market, academia and museums impact the appreciation of an artist’s work?
The activity of artist estates affects every area of the art world, from dealers and gallerists to museum directors, curators and acquisitions teams, to academics. Their executors can range from close family members and friends to auction houses and commercial galleries.
In an illuminating talk, speaker Dr. Loretta Würtenberger (The Institute for Artists’ Estates) shares a wealth of expertise and personal experience from many years managing the estates of significant artists such as Hans Arp and Keith Arnatt.
Subjects will include:
- What are the roles the artist estate can perform?
- How does one begin to shape a legacy?
- What are the factors influencing a legacy?
This is an ideal seminar for artists who are thinking about planning their estate matters, and all those who are engaged with existing artists estates.
